About Me

About Me PicI love everything about reading and writing, and my heart belongs to children’s literature, especially middle grade and young adult.

Teacher by day, I have a bachelor’s degree in English and a concentration in secondary education.

I am a member of SCBWI and completed my MFA in Children’s Literature at Hollins University. I am an aspiring author with a soft spot for girls who love science and boys with a creative side.

I have won two writing competitions: the SCBWI Student Writer Scholarship for Winter 2016 and the Shirley Henn Award for Best Creative Submission at the 2012 Francelia Butler Conference.

  1. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
  2. The Giver by Lois Lowry
  3. Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
  4. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
  5. From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg
